What is Chiron?

Chiron is a small comet-like body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, named for the centaur of myth — a wounded healer who could cure anyone but never himself. In a chart, Chiron marks the wound that works the same way: an old, tender injury, often from childhood, that flares up again and again and never quite closes.

But the wound is also the source of the gift. Because you’ve lived inside that pain, you understand it from the inside — and that’s exactly what lets you help others through the same thing. Chiron’s sign tells you the flavour of the wound; the house (with your birth time) tells you the area of life where it lives.

Chiron in all 12 signs

  • Chiron in AriesThe wound is around your right to exist as yourself — to want, to assert, to take up space without apology. You may flinch between aggression and total self-erasure. The gift: you teach others how to claim their own life with courage, because you fought for yours.
  • Chiron in TaurusThe wound is around worth and security — a deep fear that you’re not enough, don’t have enough, can’t be safe. It can show up as clinging or scarcity. The gift: you help others find steadiness and self-worth that doesn’t depend on what they own.
  • Chiron in GeminiThe wound is around your voice and your mind — being called stupid, unheard, or not smart enough. You may doubt your own intelligence. The gift: you become the one who helps others find words for what they couldn’t say, and trusts them.
  • Chiron in CancerThe wound is around belonging and being nurtured — a tender ache from a home that didn’t feel safe or a love that felt conditional. The gift: you become deeply nurturing, the safe harbour you once needed, for everyone who comes to you raw.
  • Chiron in LeoThe wound is around being seen and loved for who you are — a fear that your real self isn’t worth attention, so you perform or hide. The gift: you free others to shine and create from the heart, because you know how it feels to be dimmed.
  • Chiron in VirgoThe wound is around never being good enough — a relentless inner critic, shame about flaws, health worries. The gift: you become extraordinarily helpful and discerning, and you teach others that being imperfect was never the problem.
  • Chiron in LibraThe wound is around relationship and fairness — a fear of being unlovable alone, or of always being the one who gives in. The gift: you help others build balanced, honest connection, because you learned the cost of losing yourself in someone else.
  • Chiron in ScorpioThe wound is around betrayal, power, and intimacy — places where trust broke and something in you went underground. The gift: you can sit with people in their darkest material without flinching, and guide them through real transformation.
  • Chiron in SagittariusThe wound is around meaning and belief — a crisis of faith, a feeling that life has no point or that your truth was dismissed. The gift: you become a guide who helps others find meaning, having had to rebuild your own from the ground up.
  • Chiron in CapricornThe wound is around authority, achievement, and worth-through-doing — a sense that love must be earned and you’re never quite enough. The gift: you teach others that they have value beyond their output, because you finally learned to believe it.
  • Chiron in AquariusThe wound is around belonging and being different — the lifelong outsider who felt rejected for being strange. The gift: you become the one who makes the misfits feel they have a place, and shows them difference was never the wound.
  • Chiron in PiscesThe wound is around boundaries and disillusionment — feeling everything, taking on others’ pain, losing yourself to escape. The gift: you become profoundly compassionate and intuitive, a healer who helps others feel without drowning.

Understanding your Chiron

Does the wound ever fully heal?

Not in the way a cut does. The point of Chiron isn’t to make the wound disappear — it’s to stop being run by it, and to turn what you learned there into something that helps other people. The scar stays; the shame doesn’t have to.

Do I need my birth time?

Not for the sign — your birth date alone places Chiron, which moves slowly. Your birth time adds the house, which shows the precise area of life where the wound and the healing show up.

Why does my Chiron feel so specific?

Because Chiron’s orbit is irregular, it lingers in some signs far longer than others — so its sign is a generational marker. The reason it lands so personally is usually the house and the aspects it makes, which a full chart reading draws out.
