Astrology, from the ground up

No jargon, no leaps of faith. We start with the astronomy anyone at NASA would agree with, then show you exactly how astrology builds meaning on top of it, following one real birth chart, Mira's, the whole way through.

Frequently asked questions about learning astrology

Do I need any prior knowledge to use this guide?
None at all. The guide starts with the astronomy that underpins astrology (things anyone can verify) then builds meaning on top of it step by step. If you can read a clock and a map, you have everything you need.
What is a birth chart and why does it matter?
A birth chart is a map of where every planet in our solar system was positioned at the exact moment and place you were born. Astrology interprets those positions as a description of your personality, tendencies, and timing.
What is the difference between a sun sign and a rising sign?
Your sun sign is determined by which zodiac constellation the Sun was in when you were born, it changes roughly once a month. Your rising sign (ascendant) is the zodiac sign that was on the eastern horizon at your birth time and location, it changes every two hours, so it needs your birth time to calculate accurately.
How long does it take to work through the full guide?
Each chapter takes about 10–15 minutes to read. You can move at your own pace, the chapters are self-contained enough to read one at a time, and the guide follows a single example birth chart throughout so earlier chapters always connect to later ones.
Can I read my own birth chart after finishing this guide?
Yes. The guide is specifically designed to give you enough vocabulary and context to interpret your own chart. Luune also provides a free birth chart tool if you want to see your chart alongside what you are learning.
