Your North and South Nodes are two points opposite each other on your chart — the karmic axis. The South Node is what you arrived already knowing; the North Node is what you’re here to grow into. Find yours, free.
We use your city to find the timezone and coordinates, so your local birth time maps to the exact sky overhead.
What are the lunar nodes?
The lunar nodes aren’t planets — they’re the two points where the Moon’s orbit crosses the path of the Sun. Astrologers read them as a single axis: the South Node is your default setting, the talents and habits you came in with and can fall back on without thinking. The North Node, always in the exact opposite sign, is the unfamiliar direction your growth lies in — uncomfortable on purpose.
You don’t abandon the South Node; you carry its gifts forward while deliberately leaning into the North Node. That tension — between what’s easy and what’s evolving — is the whole point.
The North Node in all 12 signs
Each sign is one half of an axis. Wherever your North Node lands, your South Node sits in the opposite sign.
- North Node in Aries / South Node in LibraYour growth is in nerve. You came in fluent at compromise and keeping the peace; the work now is to want things for yourself, act before you've polled the room, and trust that being a little selfish won't end you.
- North Node in Taurus / South Node in ScorpioYour growth is in stillness. You're wired for intensity, crisis, and other people's depths; the work now is to slow down, build something steady that's actually yours, and learn that calm isn't boring — it's safety.
- North Node in Gemini / South Node in SagittariusYour growth is in curiosity. You arrived certain you already knew the truth; the work now is to ask more than you preach, stay open, and let small everyday conversations teach you what big philosophies couldn't.
- North Node in Cancer / South Node in CapricornYour growth is in tenderness. You're built to achieve, control, and stay composed; the work now is to let yourself need people, feel things fully, and build a home — inner and outer — instead of just a résumé.
- North Node in Leo / South Node in AquariusYour growth is in the spotlight. You hide in the group, the cause, the collective; the work now is to step forward as an individual, create from the heart, and let yourself be seen wanting joy.
- North Node in Virgo / South Node in PiscesYour growth is in the practical. You drift toward escape, fantasy, and martyrdom; the work now is to come back to earth — small useful acts, real routines, healthy boundaries — and serve without dissolving.
- North Node in Libra / South Node in AriesYour growth is in partnership. You're self-reliant to a fault, used to doing it alone; the work now is to let others in, consider their needs as real, and discover that you become more yourself, not less, inside a 'we'.
- North Node in Scorpio / South Node in TaurusYour growth is in surrender. You cling to comfort, possessions, and the familiar; the work now is to let things transform, share deeply with one person, and trust the parts of life you can't control.
- North Node in Sagittarius / South Node in GeminiYour growth is in faith. You collect data, opinions, and other people's takes; the work now is to trust your own gut, chase meaning over mere information, and follow the bigger story you actually believe in.
- North Node in Capricorn / South Node in CancerYour growth is in maturity. You retreat into feelings, family, and the safe and known; the work now is to step into the world, take responsibility, and build a public life you're proud to be accountable for.
- North Node in Aquarius / South Node in LeoYour growth is in detachment. You crave applause and being centre-stage; the work now is to pour your gifts into something bigger than you, find your people, and care about the future more than the spotlight.
- North Node in Pisces / South Node in VirgoYour growth is in trust. You over-analyse, over-fix, and try to control every detail; the work now is to let go, listen to your intuition, and accept that not everything needs solving — some things just need surrender.
Questions about the nodes
Do I need my birth time?
Not to find the sign of your nodes — the date is enough for that, since the nodes move slowly (about a sign and a half per year). Your birth time only adds the house, which pins the nodal growth to a specific area of your life.
Why is my node moving backwards?
The nodes are almost always retrograde — that’s normal, not a flaw. They drift backwards through the zodiac, which is why your North Node sign is a generational marker shared by everyone born around the same year and a half.
Which one do I “follow”?
The North Node. The South Node is the gravity well — comfortable, automatic, and where you regress under stress. Growth means turning toward the North Node on purpose, again and again, even when it feels unnatural.
